MVC with Rescue – Morris Leonard & Walston Switch

7/7/2008 – At 1137 hrs, Sta.6 was alerted for an MVC at Walston Switch Rd. & Ocean Gtwy. Within seconds, Central alerted another MVC with Entrapment at Morris Leonard & Walston Switch Rd. While enroute to the station for the first call, 615 (Chief White) came upon the rescue, upon assessment of the accident, he confirmed a working rescue. 617 (Asst. Chief Tyler) was at the station splitting crews up to cover both calls. RE604 & B6 went to the Morris Leonard call while E605 & PMA6 handled the Rt.50 call. The call on Rt.50 was unfound and units diverted to the Rescue. 620 (Lt. J.T. Tyler) arrived at the Rescue and assumed command while 615 was involved with patient care. Command advised 1 priority 1 patient trapped and a second patient out of the vehicle was a priority 3. To assist with extrication, a tow truck winched the van off the driver side of the car and crews were able to go directly in to where the driver was pinned. Upon arrival of the units from the first call, 620 transferred command to 617 and assumed Operations. The personnel from Rescue 7 (Pittsville) were able to make quick work of the door removal and EMS personnel were able to remove the patient. Once packaged, Parsonsburg EMS transported both patients to PRMC in Salisbury, MD. Many thanks to Billy Adkins from Fire In The Hole Photography for the pictures. Visit www.fithp.net for more.
