Chicken house fire – 11756 Ridgely Rd. – Ridgely, Md.

4/2/2010 – At approximately 1:15 PM Caroline dispatched Station 400 (Ridgely), Station 300 (Denton), Station 600 (Greensboro) and Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) for a field fire with exposure to a structure at 11756 Ridgely Road. Chief 4 arrived on location and reported several large straw bales on fire with extension into a chicken house. Officer 415 (B. Utz) established “Ridgely Road” command. Due to the size of the structure and the strong winds, command requested additional tankers from Station 700 (Goldsboro) and Talbot County Station 50 (Cordova). Crews remained on the scene for approximately 2 hours.

Construction crews were in the process of cleaning up the chicken house, which had partially collapsed during the heavy snow fall in February, when the fire started. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office.
