Fully Involved House Fire – Squire Lane – Ridgely, Md.

4/9/2012 – At approximately 2:00 AM Caroline dispatched Station 400 (Ridgely), Station 600 (Greensboro), Station 300 (Denton), Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) and Paramedic 14 for a working house fire on Saddle Back Lane.

Chief 4 (B. Utz) arrived on location, reported a two story wood framed structure fully involved and advised Caroline the correct location would be at the end of Squire Lane. Officer 415 (B. Utz) established command and advised all responding units that there was a propane tank on the “Delta” side of the structure that was venting. Engine 401 laid a supply line in and crews placed several hand lines in service. Station 700 (Goldsboro) was added to the Box and Engine 703 was sent to the Tuckahoe State Park to establish a draft site at the lake. Tower 310 arrived and was placed into service to extinguish the remainder of the blaze. Crews remained on the scene for several hours doing extensive overhaul.

One firefighter was transported to the Memorial Hospital at Easton with minor injuries and the Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced family. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office.
