8/8/2008 – Updated Pictures 8-09-08

On 8-08-08 the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for a accident with rollover and entrapment on US Rt.50 westbound just prior to Old Rail Road Rd. Units arrived to find a Nissan Sentra that had driven off the right side of the roadway, hit an embankment and went airborne for about 100 feet, struck a utility pole in mid air and landed on its roof top pinning both occupants inside the vehicle.

Rescue Pumper 501 arrived and used Hurst tools and pry bars to open the driver’s side door enough to gain entry inside to treat the patients. The rear window was removed also so they could remove one of the patients through this window. The other passenger was removed through the door. Both patients were packaged and transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury Md.

Fire Police shut down the shoulder area and one lane of US Rt.50 during this alarm. The Maryland State Police is investigating the cause of this accident.

FITHP Photgraphers Wayne Barrall & Billy Adkins were on scene.
