Structure Fire – Scott Land Rd – Laurel, DE

12/6/2008 – Around 11pm Sussex EOC alerted Stations 83, 81 & 79 to a Structure Fire on Scott Land Rd outside Laurel, DE. Assistant Chief Matt Warrington (83-17) arrived on location to find an abandoned house down a long farm lane fully involved. About the same time an MVC occured less than a mile away on Shiloh Church Rd. Incoming Station 81 (Laurel) units were diverted to the automobile accident, while crews from Station 83 (Millsboro) and Station 79 (Gumboro) battled the blaze. Station 77 (Georgetown) was sent to Station 83 for standby. The fire was quickly put under control. The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause. Units on Scene: Engine 83-4, Engine 83-3, Brush 83-00, Tanker 83, Delaware State Fire Police and Deputy State Fire Marshal. Units from Station 79 were staged on hardtop, and included an Engine, Rescue Truck, and Tanker.
