MVC with heavy entrapment – Shore Highway – Hillsboro, Md.

5/22/2009 – At approximately 12:20 PM Caroline dispatched Station 800 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) for a MVC with entrapment at the intersection of Shore Highway (Route 404) and Ridgely Road (Route 480). Rescue 84 arrived on location with Officer 804 (D. Lister) establishing “Shore Highway” command and confirming entrapment. Due to the shortage of daytime volunteers Officer 804 transferred command to Caroline County Officer 906 (Chief Supervisor for Caroline Dispatch S. Hurlock) so he could assist with extrication. The patient had heavy entrapment to his lower extremities. Crews from Queen Anne-Hillsboro, Ridgely and Cordova worked about 45 minutes before extrication was complete. The Shock Trauma GO-TEAM was dispatched to the scene but later cancelled. One patient was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Trooper 6 and one was transported to the Memorial Hospital at Easton. The accident is being investigated by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
