Structure Fire – Silver Hill Apartments – Milford, Del.

1/29/2012 – Around 14:10, Kent Center alerted Station 42 (Carlisle of Milford) for an automatic fire alarm at the Silver Hill Apartments on NW Front Street. Shortly after the initial dispatch, Kent Center upgraded things to a working alarm, adding Stations 52 (Houston) and 75 (Ellendale) for cover assignment at Station 42. With units from Station 42 (Engine 42-5 and Tanker 42) already in service, assisting on another alarm, Command 42 (42-20, Capt. Konesey) directed units from Stations 52 and 75 to redirect to the scene and to replace the cover assignment.

Command 42 went on scene at 14:13 with heavy smoke showing and had Engine 42-4 drop a 5 inch supply line, pulling just past the structure to the A/B corner to leave room for Ladder 42, and to place a handline in service to the second floor. Ladder 42 arrived shortly after, splitting their crew between ventilation and search. Command requested additional assistance to the scene, adding Stations 50 (Harrington) and 49 (Frederica) to the response. Upon their arrival, Engine 52-5 placed a second handline in service and assisted the crew from Engine 42-4. Crews from Tower 50 and Engine 50-5 were assigned to assist with overhaul. Rescue 49 was cancelled prior to arrival.

Command placed the incident under control around 14:35 and all units had cleared the scene by 15:40.
