2/3/2009 – On Tuesday February 3, around 11:25, Kent Center dispatched Stations 40 (Bowers), 49 (Frederica), and 55 (Magnolia) for a working house fire at 72 Stuffs Cove. Engine 49-1 was first to arrive, reporting heavy smoke showing, and the crew deployed an 1 3/4″ handline. Engine/Tanker 40-6 arrived just behind them and deployed a second handline and assisted with fire suppression. Captain Phil Pennington, Jr. (40-18) assumed command and ordered a ladder to be set in case ventilation would be needed. Crews from Engines 40-3 and 55-4 completed primary and secondary searches with negative results. Command placed the incident under control around 12:00 as crews did their overhaul and assisted the fire marshal.
