Accident w/ Ejection & Rescue – Delmar Md.

11/19/2008 – The Delmar Fire Department was alerted for an accident with rescue on Rt.13 at the Hardees’s crossover. Fire crews were updated that there was a 2 car accident with one subject ejected and trapped underneath the car. 74 Command arrived to find one vehicle in the middle of the highway and another sitting on Hardees’s property. Prior to any emergency equipment arrived an ambulance from Trans Care came up on the accident and with the help of a Salisbury Fire Firefighter they were able to lift the small car off the victim and remove him to safer ground.

Rescue 74 arrived and completely blocked the north bound lane of Rt.13 of all traffic. Delmar fire police rerouted traffic away from the scene. Crews assisted the EMS crews on scene with the multiple patients. Command requested ambulances from Salisbury and Parsonsburg to respond in to help transport the injured. A total of 4 patients were transported to PRMC in Salisbury Md for treatment. Rescue crews contained hazards from both cars and cleaned the roadway of debris.

Rt.13 was shut down for about 45 minutes during this alarm. The Delmar Police Department was on scene investigating the cause of the accident.
